Data Analysis for Paper-1B

IBDP Physics Paper 1B is the data-based section of Paper 1, where students are tested on their ability to interpret and analyse experimental or observational data using core concepts from the IB Physics syllabus. For Standard Level (SL), Paper 1 carries 45 marks in total, including 20 marks from Section B, while for Higher Level (HL) similar data-based questions are included, covering both SL and HL topics.

This paper contributes about 36% of the overall IB Physics grade, making it a critical part of exam preparation. Paper 1B questions focus on applying physics knowledge to real data, handling uncertainties, plotting and interpreting graphs, and drawing valid conclusions across topics such as mechanics, waves, electricity, magnetism, fields, and quantum physics.

To help students master these skills, I have created 5 detailed video lectures explaining each core area of Paper 1B and a collection of 10 solved past paper problems that demonstrate how to approach and answer data-based questions effectively. These resources provide clear guidance and targeted practice, giving students the confidence to score well in IB Physics Paper 1B.

What Problems does it Address?

How do I test Proportionality relationships using Graphs
How do I test Hypothesis using Graphs
How do I choose correct Significant figures in a problem
How do I do data Transformation ( Linearization )
How do i draw line of best fit and do uncertainity Propogation
